4 Element Vhf Yagi Antenna

Image
4 Element Vhf Yagi Antenna Satnam Singh VU2COR Yagi-Uda antenna commonly known as Yagi antenna, is a directional antenna consisting multiple parallel elements in a line. The driven element or the radiator is a half wave dipole which is connected to the receiver or transmitter with a transmission line. Parasitic element are placed near the driven element with some space in between them. In this article, we are going to make a simple 4 element yagi antenna for vhf 2m amateur radio band(144-146 Mhz) which can also be used for 70cm band. Design Dimensions Element Position (mm) Length(mm) Reflector 0 1016 Radiator 260 980 Director 1 470 924 Director 2 985 890 *Element length for 6mm pipe only* Material needed 1.  Aluminum pipe(6mm) 2. Wooden boom (120cm*5cm*3cm) 3. 5 screws to hold the elements 4. 25mm Pvc pipe(5cm) 5. RG58u coaxial cabl

Antenna For EasySat Part-2 ( Dual Band Moxon Yagi )

Antenna For Easy Satellites  - II Dual Band Moxon Yagi Antenna By:- VU2COR Pic. 1 Design of this antenna     This antenna works very well on both the bands. As the feedpoint is given to only one part of the antenna, so there is no need to use a duplexer or a seperete radio for receiving and transmitting the signals. Making this antenna is quite simple and low cost and you can  make this in an hour or two. I got this design from another blogger and ham LY3LP.     Material needed 1" sq. wooden dowel or 1/2" pvc pipe. 6 mm aluminum pipe ( I have used) OR 3 to 4 mm hard aluminum rod. Coaxial Cable like RG58 and Connector as per your need. Some kind of insulators that can be used as seperator  Tools like Drill machine with drill bit according to the diameter of the metal you are using as the elements in the antenna. Tape measurement and a marker Handsaw for cutting pipe and rod      Pic.2 UHF Yagi elements inserted Lets Make It Mark the distan

DIY Frequency Counter And Crystal Testing Kit

DIY Frequency Counter And Crystal Testing Kit (1 Hz to 50 Mhz)   Last month  I had ordered a frequency counter and crystal testing kit from Alixpress for $2.57. In the  kit you will get the main pcb, 7 element display, PIC16F628 , 3 transistors , resistors, capacitors ,small trimmer, 20Mhz crystal, a push button switch . It was designed by DL4YHF but now it is sold by chinese sellers on Ebay and Alixpress . Lets Start Soldering It Prepare your soldering station and let the iron properly  heated up. First start soldering resistors and other small   components. And then solder the big components like 7 segment display and the PIC 16f628 IC etc. After completing the soldering, check for any un-soldered point and clean the flux out of the pcb .     Testing Power it via the port or directly by  5v to 9v dc .The regulator 7550 will regulate the voltage and will provide 5v to the whole circuit. When the circuit will get power all the 7 segement display will glow and then the second last

Taurus 20m Receiver

Image
Last month I purchased a Taurus 20m SSB & CW Receiver from VU3SUA's website. And I got it in 7 days via Indian Speed Post. Packing was first class and the product was WOW for me as it was my first semi-assembled radio kit purchase.    What's in the Box? Taurus Receiver PCB Board Speaker 8 ohms 22k Volume control pot  10 turn 5k pot for tuning Manual Relimate connectors      Features The Taurus receiver has been built with MC3362p which is a chip with an inbuilt VFO/BFO Mixer and AGC. Audio Amp. with TDA7231  10Mhz IF coils are used for band pass filter IF frequency is kept at 10mhz Internal VFO is varactor tuned with 50k multi turn pot and BB103/MV209  varactor diode                            Assembly If we talk about assembly of Taurus , its simple If you know basics of soldering Everything about assembly is mentioned step by step in the manual. So it was easy.          Testing  After assembly of the Taurus, it was time to test.
